Blu Ristorante

Blu Ristorante

This was quite the pleasant suprise. When you think of dining in the Yorkville area, you would tend to imagine expensive, classy restaurants, that are delicious but not very affordable. We walked into this restaurant, saw a man playing the piano and singing at the back and wondered, "I wonder how much this meal is going to cost?" After the waiter presented the menu to us... we were all utterly shocked... the prices were VERY reasonable! In fact, pricing was comparable to restaurants such as Alice Fazooli's? Yup, suprise suprise! So we thought the portions would probably be very small and were again wrong!

This is an excellent choice if you are planning to head out to a party after as the restaurant is open late. The ambience is certainly great for dates too! I recommend going on weekends. I am not sure if there is live music on weekdays but it definately adds to the experience. The restaurant also serves risotto which is made fresh on the spot so it takes about 40 minutes! Something to keep in mind if you are in a rush.

I am absolutely in love with this weather! Patios, barbeques, and warm weather! Too bad this won't continue throughout the rest of the week for me! Some how I managed to get a throat infection and for the rest of the sunny week I will be spending it eating congee and hiding indoors.

Before I was sick I did manage to head to Il Postino on Main street for a nice lunch on the patio. This was my second visit to Il Postino. On my first visit about a year ago I had the chicken & mushroom risotto which was delicious so this time I tried the seafood risotto and it was even better! The risotto was cooked in a seafood tomato broth so it was very flavourful. If you can see in the photo there were large pieces of fresh seafood in there! My boyfriend had the manecotti? I am not sure if I spelled it correctly but he really enjoyed it.

One more thing, nothing beats a ice old & refreshing rasbperry and mango sorbet on a sunny day!

I took my friend to this restaurant for her birthday dinner and we were both blown away! The 3 dishes that we tried were all delicious! The black olive paste that complimented the seafood salad and the seared ahi tuna was yummy! I have never liked olives... but I gave this a shot and it complimented the seafood well. The tenderloin was very soft and probably aged because it was extremely juicy and tender. It was a special that they had that day but if the pan crusted crab topped tenderloin is offered when you are there you should try it! The restaurant wasn't very busy or loud so it was a good place for conversation! Now that the weather is so nice, you can even sit on their patio and try their dishes there.
